Hello I am Chris, and avid gamer and serial GM. I have been gaming since I was given the “Red Box” basic set for Dungeons and Dragons, for my 8th birthday in 19..cough..cough. Even before that event my family had always passed the time playing games such as Sorry!, Parcheesi, and Uno. The gift was a mistake of sorts, the person whom gave it to me had bought the Dungeon board game for me, and had purchased the basic set for an older kid. I actually ended up with both since the mistake was realized after the original gift was opened, and my poor parents were stuck playing Dungeon with me for hours.

What the mistaken gift had done for me was increased my reading level from below average to adult in a matter of months. The problem was not capability but interest…the moral being if you want your kids to read find something they are interested in. As I grew older I expanded from Dungeons and Dragons, to other games in high school. Car Wars started my foray into miniature gaming and now I have my own pile of shame.

My friend Bob use to say, “The minute you paint all your lead you die!”

So in honor of Bob, I claim I am adding to my immortality every time I get a new box of minis.

Over the years I have played many different game systems both RPG and Mini, I have my favorites, I have the ones I don’t like. I have authored adventures for the Living Greyhawk, contributed to the Hero System ezine when it existed, and did some work for the T20 crew back when that was a thing. I am not a big fan of freelancing though, since I do not write fast enough to make such efforts worth it in the long run. I am a firm believer in what R.A. Salvatore says, “If you want to write, stop. If you absolutely cannot stop then you should pursue it.” I paraphrase the quote, because I am not sure I remember the exact words. I can stop and therefore I do not write, or at least not professionally.

So I hear you asking, “Chris, if you do not write, why this blog?”

My answer is simple, I do write. I write new adventures for my players to play all the time. I am going to use this blog to publish those adventures for others to consume as my players did, it seems a waste to just write them and use them once. It will also help me refine my adventure creation skills as I look back on these and see what I did right and what I did wrong. A lot of my writing is for somewhat obscure systems, like It Came From the Late Late Late Show and King in Yellow Role Playing Game. So it will be a little niche. Although, my first published adventure on this blog is a “totally original” adventure for Starfinder, that I used for the Character Operations Manual playtest.

I also plan to do some reviews as I see fit. Unlike most reviewers who try to get the review out as close to release as possible, I will review a product when the mood strikes me. It may be Kickstarters I receive, games I have gotten around to playing, or books I have gotten around to reading.

Since I am going to post reviews, it is appropriate to state relationships I have and my disclosure criteria. If the review is paid for, or for that matter anything I publish on this site is paid for, it will be clearly stated in the article. This will include if I am ever given a free product for review purposes. I do have a current relationship with Paizo which involves three different aspects. First, I am a Venture Lieutenant for the Organized Play Foundation, which grants me some benefits, in general it is free access to the Paizo Organized Play adventures, and a couple of other benefits all of which can be found here. Second, I volunteer at a number of cons for the OPF, which usually includes gaining both in game benefits and external benefits, including free print product, gift certificates, and lodging. Finally, I subscribe to a number of subscriptions with Paizo, which gives me free access to PDFs of print products I buy and additional discounts on their webstore more info here. None of these benefits are special to me and anyone who does the same things I do would get the same benefits.

For those who made it down this far, thank you for reading and happy gaming.
